COVID-19 Notice

Due to COVID-19, our publishers, warehouses, distributors, and our bookstore have implemented procedures to keep our workers, delivery personel, and customers as safe as possible. While we are working hard to process orders and are slowly improving our delivery times, please understand that our priority is and will always be to keep people safe. This means that there may be some delays. We will contact you with any updates pertaining to your order as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding. To browse in-store, customers must agree to:

  • Wear a mask appropriately with both nose and mouth covered
  • Use hand sanitizer provided at the door
  • Carry children who are unable to wear a mask in a stroller or in adult arms


Can I bring my pet into the store?

Please do not bring your pet in unannounced! Our store dog Nymeria is territorial with other dogs, so if it is not necessary for you to bring your pet in, please refrain from doing so. 

If you have a service animalplease let us know before you enter so that we can crate Nya for you. Thank you!

Are all of the books listed on the website books you currently carry in-store?

No. Our website uses a database from our distributor and doesn't accurately reflect what we currently have in-stock. Please give the store a call at (951) 787-7807 to check whether a book is currently in-stock.

This also means that you might see a book listed that is actually out of print and unavailable to purchase or order. Typically, if you see a "Special Order" message under the Add to Cart button, it may indicate that title is no longer in print; in this case, we recommend giving the store a call to double-check its availability before you place your order.

Are you a merchant on Amazon?

No. Cellar Door Bookstore is a brick-and-mortar independent bookstore, and this website is the only place you can order books from us online. If you are looking for an Amazon merchant of the same name, sorry, but that isn't us. Contact Amazon directly with any queries or complaints.

Do you take used books or buy back used textbooks?

As we sell only new books, we do not take any used books, nor do we take any textbooks. Check with your local used or campus bookstore.

Do you sell textbooks?

We do not carry textbooks. In some cases, we may be able to special order a certain textbook for you, subject to availability (see our Special Order Policy). If you need a novel or other non-fiction title for class (i.e. Jane Eyre or Outliers), we typically carry those books. Call the store during our regular business hours to check our stock.

Do you accept donations?

We do not accept book donations. We recommend donating any books to your local shelters, schools, libraries, assisted living homes, and other organizations.
